Visiting Thornton-le-Dale

The site of our gift shop and forecourt and also where we started the auctions off all those years ago, at the village hall.  Come and select your gifts to take home and have a look at the cars on our forecourt.  We are open 7 days a week from 9am - 4pm (except Sundays in Winter) and have an online shop for most of the items on sale in the shop in case you forget something!  Parking is signposted and takes you to the large car park to the south of the village.

Our Museum closed some years ago and we have not been able to re-open the museum this year.  Derek is often around on-site when he is not out on the road so you might catch up with him too.  So please pop in and see if he's around!

Visiting Pickering

Our Pickering showrooms are not open every day. There is a viewing period prior to each auction when we welcome visitors. Any item of interest can be inspected together with potential paperwork and history folders. Staff will also be at hand to assist and answer any questions where they can.

The auction days are held behind closed doors. This means that the Pickering site will be closed and there is no public or trade attendance.

All auction dates including viewing period will be displayed under each auction details here.

Due to the large number of vehicles on site and the small spaces between them, we cannot accommodate groups (2+), children (aged 16 and under), or pets. Please leave all bags in your vehicle.

Check out our opening times on our Contact Us page.

The Viewing Period

The viewing period for each auction is listed for the 8 days prior to each sale when we actively encourage and recommend that buyers view any potential vehicle or item which may be of interest before a sale.

When you arrive at the Pickering site, there is on road parking - please be careful not to block any entrances to other businesses. Then sign in at Reception and collect your hi-viz vest. Due to the large number of vehicles on site and the small spaces between them, we cannot accommodate groups (2+), children (aged 16 and under), or pets. To minimise the risk of damage to the vehicles, please leave all bags inside your vehicles.

We have a 'viewing period' because:

  • The majority of the lots will be on site!
  • There may be other vehicles/items of interest which have arrived leading up to the sale
  • We are not extremely busy moving vehicles
  • Vehicle transporters are not loading/unloading
  • Staff have more time to assist with inquiries

Should you wish to view a specific lot, vehicle or item outside of the viewing period, please book a visit with our admin team. You can do this by email or telephone and you will be required to bring a confirmation of the booking with you.

If you would like to register for a telephone or commission bid while you are on-site, please remember to bring with you a form of ID (driving licence or passport + proof of address).
