A ⁴ Coupe GT MPV concept unveiled at the Paris Motor Show in 1998. After a positive reaction from the motoring world Renault took the brave step of launching their 'Avantime' (meaning ahead of time) into production. This radical flagship not only had handsome good looks but many unique features including the unique double-hinged 'kinematic' pillarless doors, one of the largest opening glass sunroofs featuring strengthened heat-reflecting tinted glass, galvanised steel chassis with aluminium upper structure and a 'grand air' mode which retracts the 1m glass sunroof at the same time as lowering the pillarless side windows. This car was voted 'Sub Zero' status on Top Gear's 'Cool Wall' and "the coolest car money can buy" yet only around 500 cars were sold in the UK. This well-equipped Avantime is number XXX of the limited number sold in the UK. This stylish coupe was registered in May 2003 and presented in the rare colour of Steppe Green (DVLA call it silver) coachwork with a contrasting 'tan and black' interior. This Renault is offered to auction with a V5C registration document, MoT to 31st Aug 25 along with the original handbook and Certificate from Renault confirming the model number 229. The Avantime combines bold styling with exceptional comfort and a host of quirky and engaging features. With GT flare and performance with such limited production numbers these hand-finished statement cars are now gathering the attention of many collectors.
