Current V5 present. The vendor has provided the following:
This is a genuine pre-production TR8 owned and used for testing specifically the Fuel Injection system by Triumph. It was built in March 1978 but only registered in 1980. Much documentation is with the car to corroborate this.
Genuine TR8s are rare. There were thought to be about 70 pre-production cars (many of which were destroyed), about 2600 cars in LHD for the American market, and it is known there were only 18 RHD home market cars made at the end of 1980 and the beginning of 1981.
My wife and I have owned this car for 28 years and it underwent a major restoration about 10 years ago by the Carrosserie Car Co of Barnard Castle at no expense spared.
It has covered just 35,500 miles since new with every MOT to prove it and was MOT'd at the end of April this year with no advisories.
The radio was packed in years ago, but I haven't replaced It as I'd rather listen to the sound of that V8 burble than rubbish on the radio. All wiring is still in place to fit another.
