The vendor has provided the following:

  • HISTORY OF AUSTIN HEALEY SPRITE WFS 980
  • I first purchased Austin Healey Sprite WFS 980 in February 1967 my first car for £180.
  • As 17 year old apprentice mechanic I used the car every day, then I traded it in for an Austin Healey MK3 in 1970.
  • Quite by chance I found WFS 980 in a barn in 1997, 3 miles from my home and purchased it for £450.
  • Then I started a full nut & bolt restoration.
  • Fitted a Healey 1275 engine & gear box have been reconditioned, all original panels except o/s rear wing (new), car has never been out in the rain.
  • Approx 4,000 miles since restoration and it has never let me down once.
  • MOT until October 2024. I have all MOT Certificates and a Heritage Certificate for WFS 980 first registered in Edinburgh in July 1960.
  • Registration is transferable and was valued by Reg Transfers at £2000.00
  • WFS980 has a mention in John Baggott book Frogeye Sprite The Complete Story.
  • Very reluctant to sell after all this time but due to ill health and advancing in years I have no choice.
