Lot details

Make: JAGUAR
Model: E-TYPE SERIES 3 AUTOMATIC ROADSTER
Registration: MYC 700L
Engine Size (cc): 5343
Year of Manufacture: 1972
Date First Registered: 20/09/1972
Current V5: YES
Location: PICKERING

The current V5 is present, paperwork includes a large box file containing owner's manuals, previous MOT certificates, and various invoices for work carried out.

The owner has provided the following:

Jaguar E-Type 1972 Series 3 V12 Roadster

MYC 700L Old English White

We purchased the car in 2011 as a joint venture between myself and a friend as co-owners. The bodywork, wheels and engine were in good order but the car was a bit “tired”. It spend the next three years in my garage whilst the co-owner and I spent many hundreds of hours putting things back to good order. Copies of (most of) the receipts for the parts we purchased are provided.

The main areas of maintenance and improvements carried out by us include:
 Renovation and refurbishing and re-bushing the suspension components. Replacement of all the shock absorbers.
 Replacing all the disc brakes, refurbishing the brake callipers which involves removing the rear axle – normally an expensive job at a garage due to the number of hours of labour involved.
 Replacement of all the hoses in the engine bay.
 Cooling fan motors stripped and renovated.
 Carburettors stripped, cleaned, re-jetted and balanced.
 Power steering rack renovated.
 New mohair soft top.
 Various pieces of chrome trim replaced.
 All fluids and filters renewed.
 Lots of other little jobs I have probably forgotten.

Throughout this refreshing process, other small components that looked a bit tired were also renovated or replaced – too many to list individually but receipts provided. Lots of cleaning and polishing was carried out whilst we had good access. For the next 5 years, we enjoyed the car with the usual routine regular servicing and maintenance carried out by ourselves. The car has always been kept in a heated garage and never used in the winter to avoid any nasty road salt. For the past three years, the car has had very little use and as I have other classic cars and bikes, it is time for it to be
enjoyed by a new owner.
