This MZ 250/2 Trophy was bought by the Bangers & Cash: Restoring Classics team from our auction in July 2022. They write:

At Restoring Classics we love the quirky and when we first clapped eyes on this relic from the iron curtain we already had an untreatable dose of auction fever.

At less than half the price of the equivalent Honda the MZ sold well in the cash-strapped times of the early 70s.

What made our decision ever easier …we knew exactly where to send this bike for restoration: Rob Carter and Brian Gould. Brian already had an impressive collection of MZ t-shirts and both of them have completed several impeccable restoration projects for us in the past…one even made us some money!

In Brian’s words - This bike had "lived a life" - which meant that along with having non-standard parts, one prime example being the completely wrong handlebars, it had more

than its fair share of wear and tear.

This was the lengthiest bike restoration that Rob and Brian have undertaken for us.
