The vendor has provided the following:

The vendor of this 2001 Porsche Boxster is the Bangers & Cash Restoring Classics team. They write:

We thought we’d struck gold when we bought this Arctic Silver Porsche Bosxter from Mathewsons back in March for £3200. It didn’t look to have any bodywork issues and if we’ve learnt anything from our foray into restoring classics, it’s that rust costs…

So we took Y312 TNC to Yorkshire specialists Revolution Porsche who did indeed confirm the exterior was in great condition. However, unlike other vehicles we’ve bought where the bills begin once the car is on the ramp, this one started owing us money as soon as they’d plugged into the car’s onboard computer! It was not a great day for our accountant.

Swapping common sense for our credit card we spent big, determined the next owner would enjoy this sporty roadster with fewer worries than we had driving it back from Pickering - we gave it the almost endless mechanical overhaul it’s been asking for.

Work included (but not limited to):

  • New vario-cam guides and chains and refit
  • New clutch
  • New flywheel
  • New RMS and IMS housing seals and IMS bearing
  • New water pump
  • New (to us) starter motor
  • New a/c condensers and regassing
  • New low-tone horn
  • Replaced both radiator fan resistors
  • New front shock absorbers, top mounts, bump stops and stem washers
  • New front and rear tuning forks
  • New rear shock absorbers
  • Replaced n/s and rear lower control arms
  • Major service
  • New spark plugs
  • New front and rear anti-roll bar and bushes
  • Borescope inspection

The car now drives exceptionally well for its age with its 2.7 six revving freely and its mid-mounting ensuring the Boxster handles like it rolled out of Stuttgart.

Y312 now boasts a clean MOT until July 2025. It will be available to purchase in the September auction just in time for our Indian Summer*

‘We were unable to fix the stereo system in the car due to time constraints. We are happy to pass on the contact details of the quote we received to the new owner if they would like to fix it (£200 + VAT), If not, it's roof down and the sound of the engine to keep you company!’

Please Note: We take great pride in restoring our vehicles but they are classics and will no doubt have imperfections. Please do your own checks before bidding.

*also no guarantees made over Indian Summer
