The vendor has provided the following:
This vehicle was purchased new by my late father in 1979 from Rowlands of Sittingbourne in Kent. He kept it until 1984 when he purchased a new one and sold this to an uncle. It was then bought back in 1997.
The car was not really used as my father was not in the best health and was, therefore put into storage in the early 2000s before my father passed away. It was literally locked away with no one even unlocking the garage or seeing it until storm Eunice blew the roof off the garage in 2022.
It was at that point I rescued it. There was zero damage to the car, it was a car that time had forgotten. So after nearly twenty years of sitting there, I drained the fuel, checked the levels, let some oil soak in the cylinders, put in a fresh battery and fuel, and it amazingly started up.
Since then, I have had new tyres fitted and the brake callipers, along with the clutch master and slave cylinders, were sent away to be refurbished. New rear brake shoes and kit, new oil and filter along with new plugs and fresh fluids. I put it in for an MOT and it passed. Sadly, I do not have the room to store it, so it has to go. The only mechanical thing it could do with is have the carburettors balanced and there is a rattle in the alternator when the engine revs above 4000rpm.
If you Google the registration number, there is an interesting picture that comes up of the car when it was new and is pared next to my father's Formula Ford race team lorry.
I hope you enjoy the Celica as much as we have as a family.
