The vendor of this 1999 Rover Paul Smith Mini is the Bangers & Cash Restoring Classics team. They write:
It was last July when the summer sunshine bounced off an almost iridescent Paul Smith Mini in the Pickering yard at Mathewsons. It caught our eye and we were transfixed, we had to have it. Though we couldn’t just send it off for restoration works straight away, it was totally drivable and was immediately added to our insurance so certain members of the team could relive their youth. We’re not sure how much it improved a 90 minute traffic jam on the A64, but it’ll have brought a smile to other motorists!
Once the ice and snow came, we were ready for it to head into hibernation and undergo its winter glow up. Bikini bods are built in December after all. It was sent across the border to the team at Mini Sport in Lancashire, who had recently carried out a full nut & bolt restoration of our 1960s Mini Cooper. We were hoping this one wouldn’t need quite so much work though.
And it didn’t! Though perhaps more than we first thought - turns out sunshine really does make things look nice. The harsh light of a torch looking up at the car under the ramp on a cold November morning is like the curtains opening without warning after a particularly heavy night.
The work completed includes (but not limited to!):
The car boasts a fresh MOT until April 2026.
PLEASE NOTE: We take great pride in restoring our vehicles but they are classics, they will not be immaculate and they will no doubt need ongoing maintenance and repair. We suggest you make your own checks first.
