We do love bikes from all eras here at Mathewson's - this super unusual and rare Austrian moped from the ‘70s really caught our attention when it arrived here during the summer of 2021. We saw a great deal of interest in it on auction day and the Bangers & Cash restoration team, ever quick to spot an exciting opportunity, snapped it up. They now present it back at auction in lovely condition and it’s clear the bike’s restoration has been carried out with much care and attention to detail - what a grand job.
The Bangers & Cash Team write:
This is the third bike to be tackled by restorers Rob Carter and Brian Gould on behalf of the Bangers & Cash Restoring Classics team The lads say this has been their most challenging but satisfying project to date, with a good deal of effort going into securing genuine parts from the European continent. In fact, they’ve spent more than £1000 on parts. That, combined with many hours of blood, sweat, tears - and smiles - has resulted in what we believe is a quality restoration with plenty of work on a paint job that really pops in the sunshine. Get your sunglasses on and enjoy the ride!
Work done includes:
Complete engine overhaul and reassembly, with new gaskets.
A new gear change selection box fitted on the handlebar.
Fuel tank cleaned, repaired, and repainted.
Carburetor stripped, cleaned, and reassembled.
New oil on front forks.
Front mudguard replaced.
Headlamp, pedal cranks plus various brackets rechromed.
Metalwork taken back to base and recoated with five coats of paint.
Wheels powder coated.
Puch VIN plate replaced.
Original tax disc, with older ones underneath restored and replaced.
Period air pump sourced and fitted, to replace missing one - with Puch decal added.
New number plate made up and fitted.
