This car was bought from us by the Bangers & Cash team in the October auction last year as a project for their new restoration TV programme.
When they acquired it, it was a level and genuine car (check out the initial sales video on YouTube). It had been resting for some years in a barn and just needed bringing back. It’s now back, a fabulous drive, and looking stunning having had all that needed doing done - and some. Info below from the Bangers & Cash team:
Back from an excellent recommission at Lotus experts at The South West Lotus Centre, Devon - here we have a lovely Calypso Red Lotus Esprit S3.
The car has loads of history and has what we are confident is a genuine 44k miles on the clock - many SORNs, MOTs, tax discs are in the file.
It has matching numbers, a full heritage certificate heritage, one year’s MOT and has been fully road tested. It’s a lovely and very original, normally aspirated S3.
All the invoices detailing the work done, parts and labour totalling more than 15k will be given to the new owner.
It is a lot, but Phil, James and the team in Devon have done a sensational job and the results speak for themselves. You will see it all on the TV later this summer.
Cosmetically the car is stunning.
This is 1 of 7 cars in the trim combo of Calypso Red and champagne half-leather and originally supplied to Bell & Colvill in Sussex.
It has new champagne carpets and the headlining has been retrimmed, all original trim has been treated and ‘connallised’.
The original BBS wheels have been refurbished with gold centres, diamond cut lips & new tyres. The paintwork has had a two-stage machine polish and protected with a ceramic sealant …it is a showroom car.
Mechanically the car has had a top end engine, brakes, suspension and electrical overhaul and drives exactly as it should.
It has £6.5ks worth of new parts on it.
Work done includes:
New carpets
Headlining retrimmed
New windscreen
Electrics overhauled
Brakes and suspension sorted and replaced where required
New bushes etc.
Engine Head Gaskets changed and head overhaul
All belts replaced
