Current V5 present. Paperwork includes a Haynes Manual, a repair manual, a motor car maintenance and repair series manual, a written service log, DVLA correspondence, MOT certificates, previous insurance documentation, invoices for parts and work carried out.
The vendor has provided the following:
The car had a complete body restoration in 1990 in order to keep it road worthy. After several changes of ownership I bought it in September 2009. As it had a broken piston ring in No 3 pot I had a complete engine recondition. Followed by a new radiator, water pump, Dynamo and control box. After finding a leak a replacement petrol tank was fitted. We now hope to enjoy a few trips out and about.
This model was of revolutionary design with the all-steel monocoque construction offering weight savings and improved rigidity. The front suspension was Mac Pherson Strut and the rear semi-elliptic longitudinal leaf springs were also a departure from the traditional setup. The hydraulic clutch and brake system was another new Ford feature. Production of this new four-cylinder, 1500 cc, model commenced in Jan 1951 followed shortly after by the six-cylinder Zephyr. The Consul/Zephyr range expanded considerably during 1953 with the convertible and the luxurious Zephyr Zodiac.
Cost new (1951) £662 12s 4d - 0-50 mph 17.3 secs
