Following a road traffic accident in 2018 the rear L/H wing, hub, rear springs, engine mounts, water pump and radiator were replaced under insurance claim by MG specialist Robin Lockford (£9,000). In 2021 a full engine rebuild was commissioned by MG specialist Peter Ednet (£7,280) including rebore, new pistons and crankshaft, new ring gear and clutch. New timing chain and tensioner, skimmed head and new valves and seats. Replacement cam shaft and followers. Modified main bearing seals and overhauled oil pump. To ensure best running and emissions new SU carburettors were fitted. Although engine works had been undertaken in the past, the quality had been questionable. This latest rebuild under strict supervision ensures that the engine is built in excess of the original MG build quality and standards.
