Reputed to have had an extensive (and expensive) rebuild in 1991-92 this car covered only 3000 miles in the ensuing 18 years despite four new owners.

Purchased unseen, and somewhat cautiously, by its present owner in June 2010 at 81000 miles, its required an engine and gearbox overhaul but little else to make it a comfortable transport for up to five.

With its selected walnut veneers, leather upholstery, power steering and automatic transmission, Jaguar added an air of sophistication to their popular and successful MK II saloon.

The engine, transferred to Jaguar when they acquired the Daimler company from BSA in 1960, is refined V8 design by Edward Turner BSA's Chief Engineer and was also used in the Daimler Dart sports car to great effect.
