Current V5 present. Paperwork includes a previous V5, an old tax disc, and some Vin plates.

The vendor has provided the following:

I have had this car since December 2000 and it possesses a current V5 Registration document. I
bought it out of an advertisement in Motoring News to build as a historic class rally car replacement
for my Mk 1 Lotus Cortina (which I still have) and parked it up. I have searched for a more definitive
rally history with much success (without going through the DVLA) although the offside front wing is
sign written with the names of the Preston brothers who were, I believe, regulars on Motoring News
events.
Somewhere along the way the project never happened and I have now run out of space and time to
do the build. The car is definitely a ‘project’ and although looking very rough appears to be better
than it looks. Stripping and dipping the shell should reveal all.
The car was, as far as I know, been used as a rally car for most of its life and comes with a half cage
with various scrutineer’s stickers for Motoring New events. As with most Mk1 Escorts I doubt if the
shell is original but it does come with the BB49KM chassis plate attributed to Twin Cams, RS 1600’s,
Mexicos, etc. I bought it as a Twin Cam (not sure if that is correct as the V5 says the engine capacity
is 1600 cc) but it does comes with a Lotus TC engine (with a modified ‘big-wing sump) which is
probably not the original; I don’t know what condition it is in as I have not had it apart). It is fitted
with a non-period Type 9 gearbox with hydraulic bell-housing and English axles with an LSD. There is
no prop-shaft, carburettors or exhaust with the car. A World Cup cross member and ventilated front
brakes reinforces its competition provenance. The front chassis rails have been gusseted and the
back suspension retains inclined shock absorbers so has not been turreted.
