Mathewsons Auctioneers help raise £1625 for local charities.
Mathewson’s Classic Cars was founded in 1971 and continues to be run by the Mathewson family. Now operating from Three locations in North Yorkshire, predominantly their Museum premises in Thornton le-dale, where they have been for over 25 years.
The latest segment to the business has been the Auctioning of Classic & Vintage cars and Automobilia. Holding their first sale in April 2011 with a further 4 sales held that same year.
This has now increased to 7 sales annually.
With the hundreds of attendants to each sale Mathewson’s have been able to support a number of local charities with fund raising and donations.
At our April 2016 sale a classic Italian motorcycle (1969 Motori Minarelli Super Sport) was entered by Mr & Mrs Toft of Ossett West Yorkshire with instructions that a percentage be donated to charity.
The Yorkshire Air Ambulance was the chosen charity.
The motorcycle sold well being purchased by an avid collector on the day (aided by the fact I’m sure that a large percentage was to become a charitable donation) finishing with a hammer price of £3300.
This resulted in a final donation to YAA of £1330.
A special thanks to Mr & Mrs Toft for their kind gesture.
Incidentally as well as contributing to the tremendous amount raised for the Yorkshire Air Ambulance Mathewson’s also matched pound for pound the donations made to Marie Curie from the sale of teas & coffee’s on the day of the sale bringing the total amount raised for this second charity to £295.
Total raised on the day £1625
All in all a good day!
