1950 Alvis TB14 Sports Special

1950 Alvis TB14 Sports Special

The vendor has kindly supplied the following information:

Based on the TA14 chassis, the TB14 sports made its debut at Earls Court Motor Show in 1948, a striking 2 seater design by Belgian coachbuilder 'F.J.Bidee'.

One of only 100 produced - all in 1950 - this particular example was bought new from 'Brooklands of Bond Street', the car then passed to the original owner's nephew who ran it until an MOT failure in the late 1960's led to the Alvis being laid up on his farm for almost 50 years.

Bought in barn find  by the current owner in early 2017, the car has been rebuilt at home over the following period, there is a detailed photographic record of the work carried out and the car has been fully stripped back to the bare chassis and carefully repaired as necessary and reassembled.

During the strip down complete run of original tax discs from first registration until the early 1960's was found in a door pocket and remains with the car.

Interior leatherwork is revived original and a new hood tonneau and side screens have been fitted.

Retaining the higher ratio rear axle and rare twin SU carburettors, this Alvis is more than capable of keeping up with modern traffic conditions.

The car is featured in articles in the Alvis Owner Club Bulletin and the books ' Alvis, The Postwar Cars' by John Fox and 'The Alvis TA14 Collection' by Fletcher and Newby (new edition).
