Description

1971 Ford Escort 1300 GT

The best colour, Daytona Yellow, with exceptional black cloth upholstery.

Fitted Rostyle wheels with stainless trims, correct over-riders etc.

The strut tops are probably as good as you will see.

Just arrived late for the August sale, late, so should maybe of been put to one side for October. Non the less the car is going through, so your chance to buy.

Classic Ford magazine completed a 5 page spread on the car back in 2010. A copy of this magazine is in the car history folder. It states the car being purchased new by a MR J Boys who required a four door car. Nothing odd there until you do some homework (Or know your Fords) and find that Ford never officially produced a Four door Escort GT. Mr Boys recalls no problems or waiting for his new purchase back in the day. Appearing quite oblivious to the car being very unique. The car falls into the same bracket as Four door Mexico's or Two door 1600E Cortina's. There out there. Just not officially! The car passed onto Mr Boys brother after 23 years of ownership and has gone onto have a number of owners since.

The car was Ziebart rust protected very early on in its life, and it shows.

The VIN number correctly starts BBAFLM....

  • B > Ford Britian.
  • The Second B > built at Halewood.
  • F > Four door saloon.
  • M > Build date of November '71.

Then we get to the important part....

  • G & JE > Both exclusive codes for 1300 GT.

Then we spot a clue as to maybe the origin of the car. Next to the word 'Drive' on the plate is the digit 2. This should normally mean LHD. Possibly this Escort was heading overseas, as there were certainly many different specs on export models. Maybe a 'One off' from Ford.... or maybe someone sent the shell off down th wrong production line? Wouldn't it be fascinating to find out!

Here now awaiting your inspection.

The car received a full detail just a couple of months back and looked very well. Just shows you what a professional valet and some LED lighting can achieve!

Unfortunately the car had to live outside after this work and as we all know they start looking drab pretty quick. The owner just cant keep everything he has under cover. Now due another session at the valet bay!

For the avoidance of doubt. The initial images have been supplied by the vendor after the vehicle received a full detailing a couple of months ago. The latter images are the car here with us today.

Please note that descriptions are produced from information provided by the vendors. We highly recommend that you view in person any potential purchase and take time to inspect paperwork. Also the mileage is estimated by the magazine as in excess of 250,000 miles.
