Description

1952 Koehler Escoffier

The vendor has supplied the following information.

Super rare Koehler Escoffier KS6VU is a sister to the more common Monet Goyon, which sold well in France; the Koehler Escoffier not so well, hence the rarity. The motorcycle is in good unrestored condition with most original parts present and has been kept in dry storage for the last two years.

The 125cc engine is the Villiers 10d unit, made under licence in France and has good compression, being last test started and run (2-3 minute idle) in July 2020. The paintwork has excellent patina and the overall finish is good for a motorcycle of this age. The original Saddle is worn but useable and is still very comfortable.

The Tool Box and mudguards have been painted but that was over 30 years ago so they also have the patina to match the rest of the bike. It also has its original tyre pump which is a nice touch.

IMPORTANT: It is almost seventy years old and so will obviously need a fair degree of mechanical and electrical work (and indeed expertise) to get it roadworthy, if that is the intent, as in addition to the odd missing screw/nut here and there, the headlight and odometer are not currently connected. It was purchased from a vintage motorcycle collector in France and imported to the UK in June 2018. All necessary HMRC paperwork was completed at the time of import (NOVA). It was inspected by the VMCC in July 2019 and certified as being manufactured in 1952 (VMCC certificate included). It was subsequently registered with the DVLA in July 2019 and has a current V5C with historic vehicle status (MOT and Tax exempt) and a period correct UK registration number of LXS 462. It is currently SORN.

This is a bike for the enthusiast and would make an excellent motorcycle for display, to put back on the road in its current original form or to fully restore. This will be down to the new owner to decide.

NB: Because of the age of the motorcycle the odometer reading stated cannot be verified.

Please note that descriptions are produced from information provided by the vendors. We highly recommend that you view in person any potential purchase and take time to inspect paperwork - please call us to arrange an appointment on 01751 477555. Thank you
