1954 Ceccato 175

SOLD 1954 Ceccato 175

The vendor has supplied the following information.

1954 Ceccato 175 ohc, restored in Italy a good while ago & still in great condition, kept in a private museum collection in northern Italy until it was bought by an English collector. On entering the country registered with DVLA & issued with a current V5C, recently recommissioned back to running order & fitted with new tyres & battery.

The Italian Ceccato company is one of Italy's rarer manufacturers & entered the motorcycle industry in 1949 with the production of mopeds, quickly moving onto lightweight motorcycles. They were also the first company to use an engine design from Fabio Taglioni (the godfather of Italian motorcycleing) who in the next couple of years went on to design the iconic Desmodromic Ducati engine. In 1954 this 175 ohc was Ceccato's largest capacity four stroke & their top of the range model, being made in small numbers only. Motorcycle production ceased in 1961 but took a further two years to sell off it's stock. The company still exists today manufacturing air compressors & other industrial hardware.
