1977 Triumph TR7 V8 Historic Rally Car

1977 Triumph TR7 V8 Historic Rally Car

The vendor has kindly supplied the following information:

  • This Triumph TR8 is probably the most modern developed historical TR8 in the country costing over £125,000 to build and develop, I am now hanging my rallying boots up after over 25 years of top-flight rallying.
  • This car came second in the Welsh Championship and several classes wins along the way.
  • The car was developed, built and managed by North Wales Rally Services Ltd.

Although the car is no Ford Escort beater and they did not back in the days, it’s certainly fun to drive and creates a stir among the rallying followers as something different to watch and to listen to going through the forests.

  • Rover V8 engine pushing out 320 BHP dry-sump and built by John Eales along with the gearbox and back axle - engine built 3 rallys ago purely for maintenance
  • Gearbox is R380 with elite close ratio kit (5 Speed) - gearbox was inspected 3 rallys ago
  • The car is built as per the homologation spec drawn up by British Leyland back in the days
  • Shell was a clean TR7 which was dipped and repainted from bare steel shell 100% solid
  • Suspension is Bilstein’s with APB breaks
  • Quick rack steering rack
  • In date fire eater
  • The safety features of the car comply with today’s MSA rules with a bag fuel tank fitted in the boot to enable to carry two spare wheels on event.
