1969 Lotus Elan + 2
The Elan +2 was introduced in 1967. Now with a slightly longer wheelbase and two rear seats. The Elan +2 embodied the Lotus spirit: It was a fast and agile sport coupe. It combined the performance and reliability of the Elan "Coupe" with genuine 2+2 passenger comfort. Power ranged from 108 to126 bhp depending on the model with a top speed of around 120 mph. 0–60 came up in 7.9 seconds with 0–100 in 21.8 seconds.
5,200 Elans +2 were made although figures suggest fewer than 1,200 of these cars remain in the roads today. Their relative rarity, beautiful lines, impressive performance and practicality are the main factors for the rising interest on these cars among the classic movement.
The example we have here is presented in lovely order with a large paperwork history folder. The car certainly looks to be well maintained, starts first touch of the key and sounds sweet. A quick test drive around the village on arrival showed no bad noises with gauges reading correctly.
The more time you spend looking around the car, the more attractive it becomes!
The V5 we have in the office states just 5 owners with the current recorded keeper since 2009.
We've been asked a number of times if she's a S'. All we can say is the car has twin 40' Webbers, boot release in the drivers door shut, front driving lamps, plenty of sound deadening and a push glove box..... so it does look promising? Any further pointers would be greatly received !
