Mitsubishi began marketing the Starion in 1982, during a period in which a number of Japanese GT sports cars were available, including the Nissan Z cars, Mazda RX-7, Toyota Supra and not to forget the Honda Prelude and Isuzu Piazza.
The Starion was marketed in the US under Mitsubishi as the Starion and badge engineered variants of the car were even marketed as Dodge, Plymouth and even Chrysler Conquest.
In the UK it was sold as the Colt Starion Turbo.
Manufactured in two body configuration; a narrow body and wide body, the narrower style complied with Japanese exterior dimension regulations taxing larger vehicles and engine displacement exceeding 2000cc. Only the narrow body was offered through the 1985 model year.
The Starion we have here is finished in Gold with Grey interior. The V5 we have in the office states only 2 former keepers.
Supplied with a nice history folder in which includes the original plastic wallet containing the vehicle handbook, instrument guide and most importantly the service booklet.
The service book is completely full of service stamps, the majority being Mitsubishi Motors, 18 in total !
With the new category within the HRCR (Historic Rally Car Register) being '1 Jan 1982 to 31 Dec 1985' this March 1985 Starion would qualify.
Please make your own enquiries regarding eligibility in HRCR events.
